Less frequently than I did when I was younger, I often have a battle going on within. I now know when it's a battle because I don't like the feel or taste of the internal conflict.
I recently felt myself feeling this way and thought of the story of the Two Wolves. This story always assists in putting things back in place for me. So much so, that I want to share with my network.
The story of the Two Wolves as told by the First People - THE LEGENDS website.
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.
"A fight is going on inside of me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt,
resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought bout it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
Our greatest power is the freedom to choose. There will always be something tugging at us, there will always be the human ego pulling our earlobe, just as there will always be our heart, our soul and our conscious reminding us that life is a 360 degree rotation and it applies to absolutely everything we do. We choose our path, our journey just as we choose our karma.
When you're faced with that battle inside of you, which will you choose?
